I’ve finally gotten used to the idea that the buffet is not about trying to get 10 times your money back through the inhalation (or annihilation) of as much food as possible. Also, encouraged mostly by my mom growing up, whenever we ate at buffets I ate and ate and ate and ate and ate. So eating at buffets was always about maximizing perceived value as I stuffed myself.
These days, we still go to buffets. For the most part, fortunately, I don’t eat too much. One big difference is that I feel much, much better after leaving a buffet these days instead of experiencing that too full and often bloated feeling from those past buffet visits.
The above pic is a salad plate I had for dinner. I devoured every piece of it and didn’t really use much of the Ranch dressing that I got on the side. I then got some soup and dessert afterwards.
I thank wifey sincerely for educating me about this seemingly simple don’t-stuff-yourself-silly-at-buffets concept. It took a while for me to “get it,” but I’m happy that I can pretty much control myself at buffets. At over 3 1/2 decades, I still have much to learn – ain’t that the truth!
Always Grateful,
~Hubby
