New Year’s Eve 2009

Eating Sauerkraut on New Year’s Day is a tradition in wifey’s culture.

Sauerkraut Mistakenly Placed on Food Item

Though not quite New Year’s Day, wifey prepared a yummy lunch plate: a Napa cabbage salad, potatoes, a hot dog, and Sauerkraut. I was gently informed that a number of folks would find the direct placement of the Sauerkraut on the hot dog a weird sight. My bad!

Lately, we’ve been enjoying daily walks with the toddler around the neighborhood. For the toddler, these walks are all about finding sticks.

Stick

Even better than finding sticks are the occasional puddles left behind after a spell of rain.

These puddles are obviously small ones. Fortunately for the toddler, he’s certainly had his share of fun in huge puddles as well.

Just as important as having fun with sticks and puddles are the opportunities to simply get outside as a family, enjoy the neighborhood, and get in some exercise.

Vegetable Juice, Cucumber Sandwich and a Lifestyle Change

Our family started juicing earlier this fall, and it has been awesome. Actually, wifey (of course!) wanted to do this, and I absolutely supported the move. So she researched which juicer to purchase, and we haven’t looked back since. Every time we juice, usually very early in the morning, it’s such a treat. Wifey typically creates a new concoction each time, involving various combinations of fruits and vegetables like spinach, kale, Swiss chard, cucumbers, carrots, lemons, apples, oranges, persimmons, grapes, strawberries, and probably some other ones that I can’t remember right now.

The first pic above is my drink, and the second pic right above is the toddler’s. It’s quite amazing how much the toddler loves watching the juicing being done. He loves drinking the juice more.

Wifey made me a cucumber sandwich for lunch, organic cucumbers and avocados on some sprouted grain protein bread.

Though we bought organic products before, it wasn’t until this past spring that we really became much more conscientious about the food that we brought home. In fact, this past spring pretty much marked the beginning of lifestyle changes for wifey and I. We focused on trying to live as healthy as possible through eating better and exercising as consistently as possible. Wifey has done an awesome job in documenting our journey through her blog at Andrea’s Wellness Notes. That wifey of mine – because of her, I am one lucky person!

Always Grateful,
