Scenes from Third San Jose Beerwalk in Nearby Downtown Campbell
The third San Jose Beerwalk took place in nearby downtown Campbell this past Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 with hundreds of beerwalkers strolling through downtown Campbell on a gorgeous, warm summer day. While visiting a variety of stores and restaurants that served as designated pouring stations, beerwalkers had the opportunity to enjoy good beer from mostly Northern California breweries.
This is the first Beerwalk to take place outside of San Jose’s Japantown, and the attendance indicated that these South Bay Beerwalks are as popular as ever. Anticipation of good beer was an effective remedy for the long lines at check-in and at some of the pouring locations. Also, waiting for beer pours provided additional opportunities to mingle and check out the local downtown Campbell shops and restaurants.
Of note was the presence, once again, of beers from a number of South Bay breweries like Hermitage, Tied House, Strike, Gordon Biersch, Campbell Brewing, Faultline, Los Gatos Brewing, FireHouse Grill & Brewery, and Rock Bottom Campbell.
Special highlights were the tours of the Campbell Brewing facility provided by Campbell Brewing brewmaster Jim Turturici and a first look inside the soon-to-open Liquid Bread Gastropub, which served as both a check-in and pouring location after the owners received the keys just one day before the Beerwalk. Look for Liquid Bread to open later this fall with a soft opening next month.
The next Beerwalk will likely take place in December. For the latest Beerwalk updates, like the SJ Beerwalk Facebook page.
