Rock Bottom Brewery in Campbell recently posted “some little known facts” about its head brewer Russell Clements on their Facebook page:

- Personal Background: B.A. Philosophy Virginia Wesleyan College, Virginia Beach, Va.
- How I Got Started Crafting Beer: I worked above a Brewery as a Baker in Asheville N.C. and started helping out since I was already a shepherd of yeast.
- Brewing Philosophy: To continually expand my knowledge of integrating the art and science of brewing all while having a safe and fun time.

Beer events this upcoming week
Mon., Oct. 15, 2012: San Jose’s Wine Affairs hosts their weekly beer tasting event, this time entitled “Attack of the Pumpkin (Beers)!” 1435 The Alameda, 408-977-0111. From their recent newsletter: “You be the judge of which pumpkin inspired brew is best – the fresh and organic Uinta Punk’n or perhaps the classic spicy Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin. Tasting these and more Mon., 10/15/12 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. and only $10/person.”
Tues., Oct. 16, 2012, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.: Original Gravity Public House in downtown San Jose hosts a Firestone Walker Beer Tasting event. 66 South First Street. From their Facebook event page: “Come out and meet Tony from the fantastic Firestone Walker Brewery. He will be pouring 4 of their beers on the patio from 6-9 p.m. $12 per person. Pouring the Pivo Pils, Velvet Merlin, Oaktoberfest and Double Jack. Don’t miss out!”
