Steins Beer Garden Mountain View 5-Year Anniversary Celebration
Steins Beer Garden & Restaurant in Mountain View (895 Villa St.) is set to celebrate its 5th anniversary on Saturday, March 31.
In addition to their regular menu available all day, Steins will be serving up special anniversary pig roast platters – as they have done in past anniversary celebrations – beginning at 11am.
Among the draft offerings will be seven beers that have been aged for the past five years:
- Avery Ellie’s Brown Ale
- Cuvée Van De Keizer Blauw Belgian Strong Ale
- Stone Old Guardian
- Stone Imperial Nut Brown
- Stone Imperial Russian Stout
- Samichlaus Bier
- Port Brewing Bourbon Barrel Aged Santa’s Little Helper
Steins director of operations John Ryan spearheaded a beer-aging program five years ago with the plan to release select cellared beers in five-year intervals.
Also on tap will be the winning beer from last year’s Steins Homebrew Competition, brewed by Karl Konnerth. His notes about the beer as shared on Steins Facebook page:
“I called the beer Roselare Red, after the recipe I used and the Wyeast yeast blend we used. Roeselare is a town in West Flanders, Belgium. I would call the style a Belgian Red Ale, although since fruit was added you might also call it a Lambic. After initial fermentation this ale was aged on raspberries and cherries. So it’s sour, has Brettanomyces funk, with some fruit notes. We’ll see what it’s like after 3 more months of aging!”
The winner of this year’s Steins Homebrew Competition will be announced at the celebration.
