Scenes from Jack’s Brewing Company in Fremont, Sep. 2019
Last month’s visit to Jack’s Brewing Company in Fremont afforded the opportunities to taste some of their beers…
and the chance to catch up with head brewer Greg Filippi, who started there back in April.
Earlier in the year, Greg parted ways with Hermitage Brewing Company. As their cellarmaster and head brewer, he amassed massive achievements prior to his departure, punctuated by the brewery winning medals at the two most prestigious beer competitions – silver medal at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival for Sour Cherry Sour and bronze medal at the 2018 World Beer Cup for Three Tun Barrel Aged Imperial Stout.
Now at Jack’s, Greg has been dialing in the beers these past handful of months, and I was eager for the tasting to begin.
First up:
Boys of Summer Wheat Beer – crisp, clean, delicious.
Greg with a pour of Dunkel Lager.
Dunkel Lager – malty, smooth, clean. So good.
Pumpkin Ale – fun in a glass with the spice flavors.
Juicy IPA – citrus, grapefruit, smooth. Excellent.
Double IPA – West Coast hoppiness with good malt balance. Dangerously smooth.
Thank you for your time, Greg. It was great catching up while enjoying tasty beers.
Cheers! Prost! Gunbae!
