Scenes from Off the Rails Brewing Company, April 2021

Chef Colby M. Reade’s latest food venture has brought him back to the South Bay, to downtown Sunnyvale to be more exact.

Earlier this spring, he and his Butchers culinary team partnered up with Off the Rails Brewing Co. – located at 111 S. Murphy Ave. – to head up the restaurant side with an all-scratch kitchen.

On a recent visit, we started off with an Off the Rails beer flight:

  • Chocolate Oatmeal Stout
  • “Longhaul” Wheat
  • Flor de Jamaica
  • Black Lager

I particularly enjoyed the Black Lager, while Andrea enjoyed both the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and “Longhaul” Wheat the most. These beers also paired well with our dishes.

Yucatan Style Pulled Pork Sando – Roasted pork shoulder, pico slaw with pickled jalapeños, lemon garlic aioli & brioche bun:

The Butchers Jambalaya – Grilled andouille sausage, pork shoulder, tri-tip & chicken in a spiced creole tomato sauce with rice:

N.C. Hot Chicken Sandwich – Buttermilk battered chicken thigh on a house-made brioche bun with cole slaw, dill pickles & aioli:

Chef Colby confirmed that starting out, the food menu at Off the Rails will be similar to the menu offered up at The Beer Mule in Watsonville.

Below are additional photos from our visit.

I caught Chef Hector Perez in the kitchen and took a quick moment to thank him for the delicious dishes.

Off the Rails Brewing Co. has nice outdoor spaces both out in the front and in the covered patio in the back. The inside space is bright and spacious as well.

Our visit was a yummy one, thanks to the food and beers.

Cheers! Prost! Gunbae!
