Il Fornaio Palo Alto to Host Wine Dinner Featuring J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines

Il Fornaio Palo Alto (520 Cowper St.) will be presenting special dinner pairing events in the coming months.

First up is a four-course, wine pairing dinner featuring J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines on Wednesday, March 21 starting at 6pm.

Below is a sneak peek to the menu crafted by Executive Chef Michele Godina.

Assaggini

  • Chicken skewer with fresh mangoes
  • Tuna tartare
  • Tofu vegetable gazpacho

Antipasto

  • Quaglia con Polenta: Braised quail over a polenta fondue with a wine glaze
  • Wine pairing: Frog’s Reach Pinot Noir 2013

Primi

Choice of:

  • Risotto alle Capesante: Pan-seared U10 fresh scallops over a saffron risotto
  • Wine pairing: Arroyo Vista Chardonnay 2016

Or

  • Risotto alla Parmigiana con Tartufo Nero: Carnaroli rice in Grana Padano, cream and black truffles; finished with wild arugula
  • Wine pairing: Arroyo Vista Chardonnay 2016

Secondi

Choice of:

  • Anatra alle Amarene: Pekin duck breast in wild cherry sauce over mashed celery root and braised baby squash
  • Wine pairing: Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Or

  • Merluzzo Nero alla Asiatica: Alaskan black cod in ginger, bell pepper sauce over rice pilaf and steamed bok choy
  • Wine pairing: October Night Chardonnay 2016

Dolce

  • Vulcano al Cioccolato: Lava cake over a crème anglaise
  • Wine pairing: Tower Road Petite Sirah 2014

Jeff Meier of J. Lohr will be on hand to serve as host. There’ll also be live music and a raffle to accompany the event.

The price of the wine-pairing dinner is $90 per person, and the seating will be capped at 40 guests.
